Great Fort of Tughalaqs...

While crossing the Badarpur -Mehrauli road my attention rest on the giant wall but never get an opportunity to  visit inside. Always curious to know in details about the story that laid behind the most haunted fort of  Muslim period of India. All of sudden one day as per planning I got an offer to go inside the fort. It was the foggy and cold winter day of Christmas.  I reached as per scheduled time . And I progressed gradually to explore in details about Tughalaqabad Fort.

The founder of Tughlaq Dynasty was Ghiasuddin Tughlaq. Later it was subsequently carried by Muhammad Bin Tughlaq and Firozshah Tughlaq.
Questions a rised in my mind after going through the massive wall of fort that was completed by Ghiasuddin.  Why did he took so difficult task for making such a wall around his fort? Though Ghiasuddin was not at all an emperor rather he was a competent commandant under Mubbarak Khilji, the last emperor of Khilji dynasty. As North Western areas were always threatened by the mongols so it required strong protection .Gajji Mallick effectively dealt with this . One day Gajji Mallick  and Mubbarack Khilji   were riding through a hilly terrain. All of sudden Mallick requested Khilji emperor to build a grand palace there. But, he told him , when you would be a king then built as per your wish on that particular area. Then , luck played a twist game Gajji Mallick got an opportunity to establish himself as a ruler of Delhi and named himself as Ghiasuddin Tughlaq. He established himself as a founder of Tughlaq dynasty on 1321AD .Then, within 2 years of his coronation on the throne of new Tughlaq Dynasty he built all.The.fifth most important city grew at the history of Delhi.
First of all , it was important to know more about the giant wall of the fort. It was so high because to protect from the dangerous threatening from the daunting mongols. Three layers of loop wholes were there to defend the enemies. The surface of walls were not smooth and it was basically very sloppy.Thick of the wall was 10meters., height was 30 meters.

Unevenly stone were placed with lime mortar to stand that wall. Though fort had 52 gates , now only 13 gates remains to get inside the fort.  The existence of Hathi Gate, Dhobi& Dhoban Gate, Andheri Gate, Chakhlakhan Gate are  prominently giving ideas  regarding the lost gates of bygone eras. The sky high walls , double story bastions made it more specific in the 14th century.
My curiosity increased by the time I reached at a Baoli. Water reservoir was an important part of the Tughlaq dynasty.I watched at least 7 to 8 tanks within the citadel areas. These were all stepwell to reserve water.

While moving forward a great  reservoir came in front of me. The staircase  upto the lowering portion  of well was  built very strongly. It was very huge and surprisingly not completed. That was the point for which tussle started between a Sufi Saint Hajrat Nizamuddin and Tughlaq ruler Ghiasuddin.  Story began like this. When Ghiasuddin started to dig a stepwell or boali then at the same time Sufi saint also decided to dig a pond near his own meditation areas. While the king wanted all laborers to do his work within the fort then nobody's had that power to disobey the order of the king. Ultimately, laborers decided to continue work for saint in the night shift. Even this activities enraged to king and thats why he stopped to supply the oil after the dusk time so that the labourers could not continue their work at dark night. Soon, Sufi Auliya used his supreme power for giving light and by that way his work continued. That activities of Holy Man did not give solace to Ghiasuddin.  He totally stopped all the workers and gave order to continue work only for him. And, then He left to west bengal  . Ghiasuddin again told his followers that once he would reach at Delhi then he could find the rest of the matter. Immediately, Sufi Saint marked his voice -'Delhi is yet far'. Delhi abhi bahut dur hai......Then ultimately Auliya cursed to the emperor Ghiasuddin-YA RAHE HISSAR, YA BASSEY GUJJAR....MAY THE FORT REMAIN UNOCCUPIED OR ELSE MAY HERDSMEN LIVE...Later, Ghiasuddin never reached upto the gate of Delhi. His son Muhammad bin Tughlaq had arranged a great stage to welcome his father. When Ghiasuddin went towards the central stage, the stage collapsed immediately. He died within 4 years of his rule and he never reached Delhi. It was said that , it was a plan to kill Ghiasuddin so that Muhammad bin tughlaq could fulfill his dream to ascend the throne of Tughlaq dynasty. He also could not stay there for longer time. He made an another fort at Adilabad for himself. It was told that the curse of Saint ultimately fell on their dynasty. The great fort was abandoned at 1327 AD.
I did not resist my temptation to move eastern side of the fort. Though it was difficult to walk within the hilly terrain and thorny bushes. I saw only massive ruins throughout the forts. Few animals were grazing there.

I saw a numbers of granaries that were built under the surface.Ibanbatuta, the Morrocan Traveller , who stayed at Delhi for 4 years. He vividly explained all about the life of people and  Tughalaqabad.  It was a matter of astonishment to see such a.huge granaries that royal dynasty made for the storage of crops.Even , it was explained that huge amount of grains were drained from the graneries at the time of Balban.

I moved forward and reached an open ground towards the north . A series of courtyards were there. Though all were in ruins stage now still we can imagine from that ruins how big palaces were there. The existence of great gateways gave an idea of the entrance gate of royal members upto the fort.Diwan-i-am &  Diwan-i -khas were two most important features of palaces.
Absolutely crazy to cover all other points of fort I reached to glance the dongeons of fort. It were very specifically built at the time of Tughlaq ruler. Historian Sams Siraj mentioned that  once a man did not find his way for 3days to come out. The purpose of making such dongeons were  the store house of royal belongings.

Then , the great Jahanuma Tower , from there one can see the view around the Tughalaqabad from higher point.

The remains of grand palace, gigantic towers, double story bastons, , splendid mosque within the premises of Great Fort of Ghiasuddin  who built it with great dream and high ambition did not stay for long rather it was cursed  and still in the same abandoned place since 14th century regardless of many changes in the Medieval History of India. He left an unending spirit of courage and great statesmanship in the page of History to learn more.
It was indeed a mesmerising experince to explore the most haunted fort of delhi.....Great Tughalaqabad Fort.

Untold story of mind

I was in a hurry to reach Sri Shankar Lal Auditorium of Modern School where Swami  Haridas Tansen  Sangeet -Nritya Mahotsava was organized by Kathak dancer Uma Sharma.I wished to reach there before time so that I could get chance for front row seat. Alas, as soon as I reached there almost all the first five rows were filled. Without looking no chance I occupied two seats in the mid row. Once my hubby entered the auditorium he tried to find a seat in the third row. Finding no other options I silently went there and looking forward to the better chance. In the meantime audiences filled throughout the auditorium. Before the scheduled time of programme suddenly few people were rushed towards the stage. I immediately picked up the intention, without making any delay I also went to stage to occupy a seat. My main motive for this change of place was the close view of the programme. So that I could get more opportunity to enjoy the music as well as to shot the photographs of the artists. As per scheduled time programme started. HCL chairman Shiv Kumar Nadar was invited to inaugurate the show as his company took responsibility for sponsorship.  Uma Sharma presented her speech for the audience.  Then Ustad Shajjan Khan performed Sitar along with his co-associates tabla players. He presented fantastic music for all. When next show announced then I desperately waited to see the artist live. The moment Ustad Amjad Ali Khan entered into the stage then an electrified sound came from the audience with clappings and a standing ovation.  I was also wondering to watch all this view directly. Once Khan Saheb ready to perform he spoke about his legacy of Sarod and his native place Gwalior. Last but not the least he very politely took the name of   Mrs. Subhaluxmi.Suddenly I moved my eyes towards the VIP corridor where I spotted an elegant lady looking towards Mr. Khan with twinkling eyes. Unknowingly I repeatedly looking towards her. Even I tried to pick up her portrait through my lens. Time had stood still for a moment. That was the moment one point strike inside my mind. Though many times I saw her photo in many magazines.  But never experienced such an amazing sight. Such a humble lady with high graceful gesture it's just not possible to express her beauty in words. Even married to such a high profile musician she never tried to come to the limelight of public.Though she hailed from Assam and mastered herself on Bharat Natyam she gave up her career and stood up like a pillar of strength behind the successful career of Maestro on the music of sarod. Her royal looks with dignified gestures made it clear that how great she is to have a proud mother of two young sons and successful husband whose contribution in the field of music is immense. I steadily looked towards her and tried to focus on her eyes. Her stunning beauty sparked in every passing time. Once the programme came to an end crowd gathered around her to had a selfie. I very astonishingly stood a little far and just glanced at her movement. Very perfectly she carried herself among audiences. When I came close to her I whispered ' may I have a photograph please Mam', she looked towards me and gave a million dollars smile. I just lost my sense for the moment. Draped herself just designed silk saree with minimum getup but it seemed as if she was from the world of angles. At the exit point, I came again very close to her. But, I thought to frame her beauty within my imagination always. Neither I had met before that nor any chance to make any further meeting with her but she left an unending impressive shadow in my thought. While at her departure time I waved my hand to say bye but bend myself a little bit as she came close towards the window of the car and I just very lightly touched her fingers to say again bye. She repeated that everlasting smile to me and left towards another journey of her life for which God has created such a beautiful person in this world.

NATURE AND NURTURE...

Since two months almost many unprivileged kids came to my place for learning of Hindi and trying hard to complete their summer holiday works. It's not at all new concept for me. But, I observed their new development in their attitude at some students who were bright and high IQ to pick up whatever I instructed to them.. Their interest widened towards nature and they wished to open up spontaneously at the garden where they understand the need for the tree and their maintenance. I just observed from the distance how they flowed themselves with the passing of each time at the garden. They rolled themselves the best utilization of open garden where they played without hesitation. This is what I wanted to give more importance for their overall development of thinking and capacity to develop the body activity. I felt good that even if they were not from proletariat class still they enjoyed a few hours in the areas that they would not get this facility before that. Their smiling and happiness at the playground made me so satiate that my hard work had got the return value from my long struggle for doing something different. I  thought kids are after all the gift of God. Even if they are very common and poor but the right to enjoy with the nature is very specific. The distance between me and them became less now. Although they did not pay more attention to the meaning of progress of their study simply because they need only to get support and very relieved on the point that they are enjoying more with me.  They are not in a position to understand the definition of education what  Voltaire and Rousseau defined. The need of the hour is to give caring and attention to them. The total free environment can boost their confidence and moral support from us make them hassle free life later this will definitely help them to build a good human being.

Fragrances of scents and ittar...

With the arrival of summer, i usually search a good scent and do pray for my family..Every time I get confused as I am not satisfied with the materials which are generally available at the market.Even before going to any party I require specific perfumes that will utmost necessity along with my attire. Every time I am just carried all along with the varieties which are available at the local market. Later I tried and searched at the famous Shahjahanabad. While roaming in the narrow lane of old market of Dariba Kalan my eyes stopped at one particular shop that is GULAB SINGH JOHARIMAL.I went inside and sat for a moment to find the authenticity of the perfumes. I amazed to see a lot of young dudes visited that shop and their selections of perfumes.I confirmed this is the famous Attar Shop that sells fragrance oils.Since 1816 Gulab Singh Joharimal has been a trusted name in perfumes and attar also known as iftar. These all natural perfumes are highly concentrated and are usually offered for sale in small quantities there are so much to carry home that u will not want to go back empty-handed.Yes, the singh family still carry this business generation to generation but they maintain the standard of the perfumes also. One thing I remembered that the Mughals who were not only great architectures and fond of food but also a great sense of style and contributed a lot to the cultures of Indian society. Still, ittars and scented perfumes are in great demand in the middle east.I gratefully bought a number of varieties whenever i went there for shopping.

Deals with education

With the arrival of the summer season, so many preparations are going on at the schools to handover the long list of homework for the students.Initially, there is no reaction among little tiny tots to young ones to think about the works whatever their teachers have handed over to them. With the passing of each day, parents are also continuously in search of a perfect teacher who will assist to complete the long list of homework. Now, this is the common scenario at every location. But, nobody ever thinks how far their kids have learned and how intensely they know the basics of each subject.Everybody is hurried to complete their work by hook and crook way. Those who have affluent conditions they naturally are capable to provide finance for a private teacher. But the students of unprivileged family they never get any support from anybody but trying hard to complete their work. At times they leave everything without thinking much about the outcome. As usually our NGO, where I am working and now appointed as a Secretary, also declared summer vacation but I did very unusual decision for those students who were coming regularly at our NGO for coaching.I invited them to my resident for teaching. With diverse class and age group they all ready to start their study in front of me.I surprised, I lost my faith in the education system of our govt once I went through with those students. Though few of them were in class 5th and few others were in class 4th and class 3rd but nobody had any basic knowledge of alphabets. They were incapable to recognize any word in a proper way. I terrified how it is possible that a student of class 5th is not reading properly of their own book. Then I remembered the different progressive formulas that our govt has followed for the development of the education systemsThese are all in vain.Mere finance support and supply of all basic necessities to the students cannot give them any chance to develop their skills rather our govt should focus on the proper teaching method so that they can learn everything in a proper way.
